Simpler Sampler Portable Combine

$ 23.39

We love how the popcorn itself smells and tastes. There is a lid for the bottom/top of the bowl, you can flip the cooking surface with the bowl. I really like the well thought out cord wrap on the bottom. I like being able to determine how much popcorn I wanted to make. From a single to multiple servings. However: -The slits in the bowl to melt butter-that part of the bowl is technically concave. Which means that you actually have to move the unmelted butter around to make sure it actually drips onto the popcorn. Otherwise it would make a pool on the top of the bowl. The lid for this part of the bowl is convex. So the bowl does not rest flat on any flat surface, which can get messy quick if you accidentally bump it. It is also very difficult to get on the bowl and to make sure that it will stay on. -The stirring arm is supposed to be removable. We have yet to get it removed and don’t dare pull on it any harder for fear of damaging that part. Though this may be irrelevant, from the bottom of the cooking plate, it is clear that there is also a screw in it, so not sure if the removable scenario is outdated info. According to other reviews, the manual is outdated (did not see this before). -I am concerned that the non-stick will soon go defunct. Based on excess non-stick material that was over the side of the plate- I wonder if that is where eventual peeling would start. And despite even using a Nostalgia brand popcorn kit, I have noticed that the cooked oil does not come off the cooking plate very easily at all. I would like to actually put it in the dishwasher since the description states everything is dishwasher safe. But, since we cannot get the stirring arm removed and it seems like with even hand cleaning that the oil is still stuck, I likely will not put it in the dishwasher. -The biggest draw and thus disappointment for me was the advertised ability to make my own kettle corn and even roast nuts in this product. If you are expecting this item to come with recipes for those, prepare to be disappointed. The closest thing to a ‘recipe’ is the suggestion of putting nuts in your popcorn for a snack, and the suggestion of adding sugar, cinnamon, and salt to your popcorn for a kettle corn taste. If you are going to put in a product listing and advertise on the side of the box that kettle corn, roasted nuts, and MORE can be made with your product, then provide the recipes as proof. I have added pictures of these two issues. As it is what felt like the best item to purchase based on my research of what I wanted, I will deal with it. I am hoping that it will not turn out to be another consumer lesson of what to look for next time in what I do not want to deal with in the next product.
