I bought this to turn it into a feeder station for the small birds (mainly Junco) that winter over here. The Blue Jays kept harassing them every time I spread seed on the ground even though I put enough out for the Jays also. I snipped 2 bars out near each corner, positioned the perches but left out the swing so it wouldnt get in their way. I left the wire rack out of the bottom then filled the bottom with seed. By the end of the first day the Juncos were loving it. I did not add the feed dishes, and doo not leave the regular doors open or bigger birds could fit inside. I placed the cage under the wood pile over hang to keep the seed dry, and cover the entire cage with a bin to keep rodents out at night. I get the benefit of enjoying watching caged birds without the responsibility of taking care of them except for pouring a can of food in every few days.
